ACE (Assisting Charitable Endeavors)

Charitable giving from Montana State Fund. The 2001 Legislature granted Montana State Fund the ability to establish a charitable giving program to promote civic goodwill and enhance the success of selected worthwhile causes in Montana. As a working partner with businesses and their employees, independent insurance agents, medical providers and others throughout Montana, we believe it is our duty to support deserving projects that promote workplace safety and enhance the quality of life in our local communities.

ACE Criteria and Guidelines

The program you're proposing for an ACE Grant must meet these criteria:

The program fits within the scope of Montana State Fund' normal business and operations:

  • Grantee promotes workplace safety
  • Safety Trainings
  • Assistance with the purchase of equipment that enhances safety and community well-being
  • The program will result in a widespread benefit for a Montana community or the state as a whole
  • The program benefits a representative cross section of small and large communities across Montana
  • The program will have the potential to result in positive public communication about MSF and the ACE program
  • The minimum grant will be $250
  • The maximum grant on applications received after April 1, 2013 will be $2,000

The ACE Grant guidelines are as follows:

All contributions will be a dollar-for-dollar match. The source of the dollar match must be identified on the application form and documentation included with application.

Your organization must be a qualifying non-profit, tax-exempt organization based in Montana. Grants will not be given to individuals, political, labor, religious or fraternal organizations, sports activities or for courtesy advertising purposes. Attach a copy of 501(c) 3 status with application.

Based on article II, section 5 and article X, section 6 of the Montana Constitution, the ACE committee will not fund grant requests from any church or any church or religious school. Grant requests from other organizations with a religious connection may be funded if (a) a substantial portion of the organization' functions are secular rather than religious, and (b) the grant will be used for a secular rather than a religious function.

If the grant is being used for an activity or event, MSF will review all advertising before the event and be given the opportunity to identify opportunities to promote MSF, including use of the MSF logo in appropriate circumstances.

Please provide details of proposed project with itemized materials listed including cost breakdown (estimated cost if necessary).
